Osteosarcoma (OSA) is the most common malignant bone tumor in dogs. It accounts for more than 80-90% of all primary bone tumors. It is characterized by a very aggressive course – it quickly infiltrates locally and gives early metastases, mainly to the lungs. It most often develops in the long bones of the limbs (around the epiphyses of the humerus, radius, femur and tibia), but can also occur in the flat bones and soft tissues.
Advanced DNA analysis helps to better understand genetic predispositions and make informed decisions about animal health. The PetGen study analyzes genetic variants associated with the risk of selected inherited and polygenic diseases. The result provides valuable information about the animal’s health predispositions, supporting prevention, planning further diagnostics and daily care. It’s a tool that helps owners, breeders and veterinarians act earlier and more deliberately.
